Hero MotoCorp sales rise marginally in May

Hero MotoCorp sales rise marginally in MayIndian automotive giant, Hero MotoCorp Limited has said that it has recorded a moderate growth in sales during the month of May compared to the same month of the previous year.

India's largest manufacturer of two-wheelers said in an official statement that it sold 5,57,890 units during the month of May 2013, as compared to 5,56,644 units sold during the same month of the previous year. The moderate growth in sale is significant because the Indian automobile industry has been facing a slowdown in the country.

Anil Dua, Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales said, "The demand momentum that we had seen on our product range in April continued in May as well, helping us achieve over 1.1 million retail sales in the two-month period. This retail off-take has been helped by our star brands, our new product range as also the recently-introduced five-year warranty on our entire portfolio."

He also said that the consumer sentiment in the Indian two-wheeler market has been improving and the sales growth is likely to increase in the coming time.  He pointed out that the good monsoon expectation is likely to improve consumer sentiment and this will allow the company to maintain growth in the coming time.
