AirAsia India appoints CEO
AirAsia India - a joint venture among Malaysian low-cost airline AirAisa, Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace Private Ltd -has finally appointed a CEO.
Tony Fernandes, chief of AirAsia Group, announced on Twitter that the board of Airasia India has approved the appointment of CEO.
Using the popular micro-blogging site, he said, "The board of Airasia India has approved and appointed a Ceo for Airasia India He will be a revelation."
However, he did not disclose identify of the person.
He just said that the he is a very smart boy from the South Indian city of Madras, and that they were thrilled to have the newly appointed CEO on board.
A few days back, Tata Group former chairman Ratan Tata had claimed that AirAsia India's recruitment process received a great response.
India's Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) has already cleared AirAsia's proposal to set up a budget airline in the country by investing Rs 80.98 crore, in partnership with Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia.
AirAsia will own a 49 per cent stake in the JV, while Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia will own 30 per cent and 21 per cent stakes, respectively.
