Sidhu moves Supreme Court against ban on ‘Sadda Haq’

Sidhu moves Supreme Court against ban on ‘Sadda Haq’Actor-producer Kuljinder Sidhu has approached the Supreme Court against a ban imposed on his film `Sadda Haq' by state governments in several north Indian states in the country.

The movie has been banned by the state governments of Punjab, Haryana, UTs of Chandigarh and Delhi a day before the movie was set to launch on April 5 as the movie glorified the Khalistan separatist movement of region. Even as there was no ban announced on the movie on J&K, the movie was not screened in the northern state.

Mr. Sidhu said that he had to approach the country's apex court as the government was not listening to them and they were losing important time. He believes that the Supreme Court will give a judgement in his favour. He pointed out that the movie was screened in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and no problems were reported there.

"Even today I tried to meet deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal in Delhi but I got no appointment. Hence I had no option but to file a petition with the Supreme Court against the ban," he said.
