Randi Zuckerberg undone by Facebook’s confusing privacy settings
In what clearly was a flap of sorts related to the confusing privacy settings of the popular social network Facebook, Randi Zuckerberg - sister of Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg; and an ex-Facebook executive herself - recently complained about privacy breach on the network.
According to BuzzFeed, Randi Zuckerberg became a victim of Facebook's ambiguous and unclear privacy policies when a photo, which she posted to her `private' Facebook page, ended up all over the Internet.
The not-too-flattering photo which Randi had posted was one she had apparently clicked during the holidays. The photo, intended for a limited audience, featured her family-members in the kitchen; and showed their reaction to Facebook's newly-launched `Poke' app.
The `private' Facebook page photo, however, made its way to the news feed of Randi's friend's friend - a Vox Media employee, Callie Schweitzer - who later posted the photo on the Twitter microblogging site, thinking that it was a `public' post.
Though an infuriated Randi - undone by Facebook's perplexing privacy settings - ultimately had the photo, as well as the linked posts, removed from Facebook and Twitter, she reportedly lashed out at Schweitzer in a tweet which read thus: "Digital etiquette: always ask permission before posting a friend's photo publicly. It's not about privacy settings, it's about human decency."
