Trinamool Congress activists surround Nandigram police station
Nandigram, Apr 18 : Trinamool Congress activists on Friday surrounded the Nandigram police station to protest the arrest of three party activists for their alleged involvement in the killing of a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Panchayat Samiti member last year.
According to the police the blockade of the police station began at 9:30 am.
“The TC activists were arrested as their names figured in the FIR lodged for the killing of Sankar Samanta, a CPI (M) Panchayat Samiti member in January 2007,” said East Midnapur Superintendent of Police S Panda.
“They will be produced in a Haldia court on Friday,” he added.
The Trinamool Congress had alleged on Thursday that its three candidates for next month’s panchayat elections were missing from Khejuri. (ANI)
