PM Manmohan Singh acknowledges problems within the ruling coalition
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday acknowledged tussles within the ruling coalition, and urged all parties to work together to realisze the high growth rate of 9 per cent.
Mr. Singh held lack of political consensus responsible for poor growth, and stressed that India was capable of achieving growth rate of 9 per cent, but all political parties needed to work together to realize that goal.
Speaking on the topic, he said, "We need to re-think. India needs to think big. Political parties need to work together to realise the high growth of nine per cent which India is capable of."
He also acknowledged that there are problems within the coalition as well as with the opposition.
Without criticizing rating agencies, he said sometimes those agencies overdo while forecasting growth for a country. It may be noted here that almost all major rating agencies have forecast poor growth for the Indian economy.
He warned that poor economic growth would also affect national security as dissatisfaction among the people and unemployment could become major problems.
