Expect Growth To Come Back To 8%-10%, Says Pranab Mukherjee
Country's Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee stated that he is sure that the country's financial system will come back to a "sustained growth path" of around 8% to 10% yearly in the coming time, boosted by the administartion's proposals to fast track a few plans in order to speed up growth.
At the Asian Development Bank's annual governors meeting in Manila, Mr. Mukherjee stated, "For the current fiscal year, we have set our objective to focus on domestic demand-driven growth recovery, create conditions for rapid revival of high growth in private investment and address supply bottlenecks in the agriculture, energy and transport sectors."
He said in spite of the financial worries in the West, the nation has managed to uphold growth of about 7% during the last financial year.
Mr. Mukherjee also said that the high percentage of its gross domestic product driven by domestic demand and a high savings rate of approximately 33%-35%, are "inbuilt positives" for the Indian financial system amid the worldwide instability.
