Zardari Network more dangerous than Haqqanis for Pakistan: Nawaz Sharif
Bahawalpur (Pakistan), Oct 5 : The ‘Zardari Network’ is more dangerous for Pakistan than the Haqqani network, as the Zardari-led government is bent upon destroying the institutions of the country, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said.
Sharif made these comments while talking to reporters in Bahawalpur after condoling the death of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) MPA Mumtaz Jajja, who died of dengue fever recently, The News reports.
Sharif said that the PML-N manifesto would soon be presented before the people of Pakistan, and that protest movements would be launched to save the country.
He said sacrificing a government is not a big deal to save the country, which is passing through a critical situation.
The PML-N chief accused the federal government of showing complete indifference towards the worsening energy crisis, especially electricity shortage, in the country.
He said that the economic situation of Pakistan has deteriorated, no investment is coming in and unemployment has reached alarming levels.
Sharif also said that the US allegations and threats have placed Pakistan in a tight corner, but the situation could be handled if there is a political will on the part of the government.
He termed the US allegations hollow and baseless. About charges levelled by Admiral Mike Mullen, Nawaz said those were nothing more than a statement, delivered to enhance his rating in the media.
Mullen, the then chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, had said at a Senate hearing last month that the Haqqani network of terrorists was “a veritable arm” of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and that the Pakistani intelligence agency had directed the militant group’s recent attacks at US installations in Kabul.
The remarks had caused a diplomatic storm, forcing the White House to say that it did not endorse Mullen’s language, although it too believed that the Haqqanis were using their bases in Pakistan to attack US and Afghan targets. (ANI)
