Infosys follow reconstruction exercise to make it agile
Infosys Technologies, dealing in software services is all set to go up for massive re-organisation after a gap of three years. It will help the company to provide its services faster to the clients. The reconstruction is done to keep the company alive and to deal with the changing market conditions.
Company has decided to declare the reconstruction exercise after announcing its annual results in April. Recently Wipro had broken its joint CEO structure by appointing its new CEO, and Ashok Soota , the founder Chairman of MindTree also make his move from the company.
Infosys has organized a 3-day leadership strategic action meet in Mysore, after posting its third quarter results on January 13. About 500 senior leaders including top management and vertical heads from across the world have participated in the meet. The subject matters for the discussion were sharpening customer focus, becoming nimbler, business restructuring, operational efficiency, quality delivery etc.
Mohandas Pai, head (education, training and HR), said that Infosys is a new company in every three years and hence this not the first time the company is following re-oganisation exercise. For years the company is following this routine to determine company's future. He also said that re-organisation plan has nothing to do with management changes as these are two separate things.
Sources reveal that most probably, Infosys will combine industry verticals and select service lines in their re-organisation. The changes in the senior management may be done in the middle of the year.
Chairman Murthy will retire on August 20 on completing his 65 years. As a result of his retirement, the option of Chairman is open for CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan, 54), who's term ends in October 2012. But company is also considering some outsiders names also for the post of Chairman, like Board members K V Kamath, 62, and Deepak M Satwalekar, 61.
Infosys has requested its nomination committee headed by Jeffrey Lehman to name the successor of Murthy as soon as possible.
