Iran summons Dutch ambassador over anti-Islam video

Tehran- Iran on Sunday summoned the Dutch ambassador to Tehran to lodge a protest against the anti-Islamic video made by Dutch legislator Geert Wilders, the website of state television network IRIB reported.

The Iranian foreign ministry also summoned the Slovenian charge d'affaires as rotating president of the European Union.

The IRIB website quoted both diplomats as saying that the Iranian protest would be delivered to their respective governments.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini had on Friday harshly condemned the anti-Islamic video, terming it as "insulting and anti-Islamic" and symbolic for the "deep antagonism" of some Western states towards Islam and Moslems.

The spokesman had called on the EU in general and the Dutch government in particular to stop the showing of the video and to respect what over a billion Moslem worldwide hold sacred. (dpa)
