New cash ratio for the banks is to be set at 7% According to sources, the senior regulators and the governors of Central Banks have decided to impose tighter restriction on the level of assets that the banks must have to hold.

They have also ordered that the banks will need a cash ratio of minimum 7% in near future that means the banks must have 7 dollars for every 100 dollars in the accounts of the customers.

The current cash ratio for the banks is 2% and the new cash ration is designed to protect the banks across the world in future crisis. The new rules of cash ratio were decided by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.

These rules are expected to be approved by the senior regulators and bank governors when they will meet at Switzerland on Sunday. After that it will be checked by the chief of government of the G20 nations in their summit which is to be held in November.

According to the new rules makers the low levels of the cash ratio were a big factor in the recent banking and financial crisis which are needed to be revised.
