Maruti produces 5 lakh K-series engines
While there has been only 23 months that the country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India introduced the K-series technology to the country, but the company has recently said that it has crossed a figure of 5 lakh units production mark of its latest generation K-series engine that was first manufactured in October 2008.
According to the statement issued by the company, as of date, the K-series engine are available in seven models, including, Alto-K10, Wagon R, Swift, Ritz, Estilo, Swift Dzire and A-Star.
Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said that the introduction of the K-series engines into the Indian market is a clear testimonial of the commitment of the company toward the technology in the Indian market.
In fact, it is to be mentioned here that in a short span, the company has scaled up the production of K-series engine manifold.
It may be noted here that the auto major has an installed capacity to produce 5,00,000 K-series engines annually while the company has recently announced an expansion plan of additional 2,00,000 K-series engines by 2012.
