Mercedes stays at the top!
While BMW was able to outshine in the year 2009, but the German luxury car maker, Mercedes Benz has beaten BMW once again in the race for the top spot in the Indian luxury car segment in the first seven months of the year with a massive 79.31 per cent jump in sales. It may be recalled here that Mercedes was overthrown by BMW in 2009 from its numero uno position.
As per data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, the company has sold a total of 2,921 units in the January-July period, as against 1,629 units in the same period last year.
However, BMW has once again started the production of the 5-Series at its plant and the coming months will see the heat getting to the next level.
On the other end, the German rival, Audi is also gradually increasing its strength in the segment. It is to be mentioned here that the company sold close to 1,535 units in the January-July period, as against 981 units in the comparable period last year, a growth of 56.47 per cent.
