Sensex ends in red for second consecutive day
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex ended the Friday's proceeding 28.84 points down from its previous close recording negative growth for two consecutive trading days. At close, the Sensex was trading at 18,143.99.
At the National Stock Exchange, the broad-based Nifty closed 7.85 points or 0.14 per cent down from its previous close at 5,439.25. Overall width of the market remained negative as 37 of the 50 Nifty constituents ended the day in red.
Hero Honda, Tata Steel and TCS remained the major losers at BSE after shedding 1.41 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 1.29 per cent respectively. DLF and State Bank of India were the other two companies which dropped over one or more than one per cent.
However, companies like Tata Motors, ITC and HDFC managed to sail through the negative sentiments to close the day with a positive note.
Tata Motors posted a smart gain of 3.89 per cent or 33.50 points to close at Rs.894.35 per share. While ITC gained 1.86 per cent HDFC gained 1.39 per cent. A total of eight Sensex constituents ended positive.
