Maruti expects the exports in Europe to go down by 20%

Maruti-SuzukiAs the market leader in the passenger cars segment, Maruti Suzuki has been facing problems in the domestic circle with its market share falling below 50%, its export segment is also facing issues.

The MD & CEO of the company, Shinzo Nakanishi has recently said that it believes that the exports from the European market will be down by 20% in the current year. It is to be mentioned here that out of the total exports of 1.47 lakh the company made in the last year, close to 1.2 lakh units went to Europe.

However, the company said that it is exploring new markets in Latin America and Australia among others in order to ensure growth in its overall overseas shipments.

While the company currently exports to around 90 countries, it is believed that it is now looking to enter new markets in parts of Latin America, Middle-East, Eastern Europe and Australia.

The MD of the company also said that the company may look at opportunities to export its newly launched Alto-K10, although it will be restricted only to the right hand drive markets.
