The Farm Equipment and Tractor division of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group has recently announced the entry of the nation's smallest and cheapest tractor model Yuvraj-215 in Gujarat.

Senior Vice President Sales, Mahindra & Mahindra Farm Equipment sector Avinash Patankar said that with the launch of this model the company has become he player that has the cheapest and smallest tractor in the Indian market.

While the company has got into an exclusive contract manufacturing deal with Deepak Diesels Private Ltd (DDPL), it is to be mentioned here that the product is ideal for farmers that have small land holdings of two to five acres of land. In fact, it has been learned that the 15 horse power mini tractor is priced at Rs 1.75 lakh, which is lowest as compared to 25 hp model priced at over Rs 2.50 lakhs.

The company has currently sold close to 50,000 tractors in the first quarter of this fiscal ending June, including Swaraj model.

However, industry officials expect the industry to grow at a pace of 12-15% for the remaining months of the fiscal which has so far grown at a pace of over 20%.
