National Trust of Scotland says condition is much improved now
The National Trust for Scotland has said it is in a very good and secure financial position as compared to the position a year ago. The annual results of the body has showed that its working reserves is now standing at 8.5 million euros, which is double of the stand of 4.1 million euros of last year.
The number of paying visitors increased by 7% and the income from the membership fees also rose to 10.4 million euros. Last year the Trust had cut 88 posts and had sold the Edinburgh headquarters as well.
The latest accounts data suggest that an extra income of 2.7 million euros has been received as the number of visitors increased, mainly because of the Burns National Heritage Park. Legacy income also increased to 5.9 million dollars on the other hand the wages and salaries fell down by 3.2%. This was possible because of the redundancy programme, which has been done during this year.
These figures don’t include the cost of that programme to the Trust. The finance director of the Trust, Lesley Watt has said that such improved performance has given them a relief but they just can’t relax.
