Rise in dollar index presses down grain futures
As Wall Street equities were virtually flat and the dollar index rose 0.45 percent, Grain futures were lower on the Chicago Board of Trade on Monday.
Corn was off 6 3/4 to off 7 3/4, soybeans were off 1/2 to off 6 1/2, wheat was off 2 3/4 to off 6 3/4 and oats were off 1/2 to off 2 1/2.
With the favorable Midwest weather, dry and mild, weighing on trades, Corn prices fell slightly.
Wheat futures closed lower with a major Egyptian trader saying Russian wheat prices continue to outflank U. S. and French markets.
It has further been reported that soybean traders are waiting to see if Tropical Storm Alex affects weather in growing areas, which are expected to benefit from the additional moisture. (With Inputs from Agencies)
