A survey performed by the Internet security software and hardware vendor Sophos, reveals that UK shares the ninth spot along with Russia and Italy, in the list of top 12 spam generating nations.

The report, that relied on the data between January and March 2010 highlighted that UK contributed 3.1 percent of the total world spam. And to much of the surprise the nation indicted of cyber attacks, China didn't even feature in the top 12 spammers list and ranked at 15th position.

Graham Cluley, a technology consultant at Sophos, exclaimed that everyone were curious of China's position in the list. Following the cyber attacks the nation has acquired a black mark and will every time be looked upon as the launch pad of targeted attacks against foreign companies and government networks.

However the top Spammer position was credited to US followed by India whose respective contributions were 13.1 percent and 7.3 percent.
