New way of detecting explosives soon to usedA new and better way to detect explosives has been found out. The American scientists have invented a new way of detecting the explosives. The concept is called Optical Dynamic Detection (ODD) solution and it has been informed that spectroscopy has been used for the purpose. Spectroscopy uses various color spectrums to shed light on certain package's makeup.

The Explosives Division of the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate has been examining the technology quite seriously and soon the concept may be used in various missions.

One of the program manager of the Department, Eric Houser has informed that Spectroscopy has always been a good tactics but the technology need to justify its inclusion. The optimal dynamic detection (ODD) has been reported to overcome many of spectroscopy's limitations.

However, the scientists have found two major drawbacks of the system. First being the distance and second is the approach like spectroscopy. In the detection methods, the person or the detector needs to be physically present near the bomb which is extremely dangerous. Besides, spectroscopy relies on reflected lights, which are not sensitive or selective enough sometimes.
