In what police describe as an incident of domestic violence, a 90-year-old New York state man has been charged with killing his wife.

According to the reports of The Buffalo News, Police further said that John Bunz tried to take his own life after the killing.

Bunz and his wife, Virginia, 89, lived in an apartment in the Amberleigh Retirement Community in Amherst, outside Buffalo. A relative found Virginia's body Sunday morning and called police.

Assistant Amherst Police Chief Timothy Green said that after being treated at the Erie County Medical Center, Bunz was arraigned at the hospital late Sunday on a charge of second-degree murder.

Green would not say what caused Virginia Green's death or the type of injuries her husband had. An employee of the retirement community said neither had been shot.

Green told The News on Tuesday, "It's a domestic homicide as far as we can tell. I'm not aware of any other motivation."  (With Inputs from Agencies)
