Google comes with new visualization technology
The latest method envisaged by Google Labs turns public data sets into interactive charts which can be embedded in Web pages. This method of visualization is termed as Public Data Explorer.
The method relies on Trendalyzer's image technology.
The same technology is being used to control Google Chart API and the Google Visualization API, jointly termed as Google Chart Tools. It's the same service which is used to add charts and graphs to a website.
Explaining the whole concept, Jurgen Schwarzler, Statistician with Google's Public Data Team said that the technology can be used to represent data in form of graphs, maps and other graphical ways. He also said that the service is useful in visualizing more dynamics and thus help in time saving and highlighting different and important aspects of data.
It would also help in proper sharing of data.
This release of Public Data Explorer shows Google's effort to provide visual support to search queries and also provide an edge over its potential rival Bing.
Bing uses the services of Wolfram Alpha computational engine to provide similar statistical results.
