Samsung embeds Skype

Samsung embeds SkypeSamsung, world leader in the making of HDTVs, has recently made advancements by joining the league of companies which make Skype-embedded products.

The company is thinking of making the implants in LED7000 and 8000.

With this software, the consumers will be able to connect for "Freetalk" using Samsung's webcam in order to make audio and video calls. The software will also permit the use of SkypeOut credits and other Skype services.

This allows Samsung to give stiff competition to its rivals such as LG and Panasonic.

Although this move comes a bit late (as LG and Panasonic announced their plans in January itself), but it does indicates a stealth movement of Samsung in the Internet connectivity business.

As for the launch, it would be Korea which would get the first Skype-enabled products. They will be released very soon by Samsung Korea. The rest of the world would have to wait till the later part of this year before they can use these HDTVs.

Meanwhile, since this is a very new innovation it would be sometime before one can understand the reaction from the market.
