Apollo To Set Up Tertiary Hospital In Mauritius
Apollo Group of Hospitals along with Mauritius-based British American Investment (BAI) would establish a 200-bed multi specialty tertiary care hospital in Mauritius.
British American Hospitals Enterprises Ltd, a joint venture company formed by the British-American Investment Co. and Apollo Group was set in motion to execute the project.
The new Apollo Bramwell Hospital in Mauritius will be set up with a total investment of $70 million having debt-equity proportion of 1.25:1.
Apollo Hospitals, investing 26% in equity in the JV, will provide technical consultancy services during the project implementation stage. Afterward, on completion of project, it will look after the operations of the facility.
Apollo Bramwell Hospital will not only satisfy the healthcare needs of the people of Mauritius but it also targets patients from Madagascar, Seychelles and African countries.
Being a major training hub for medical and para-medical personnel, the new hospital would be operating by 200 physicians, nurses and paramedical staffs. It is expecting that the patient accommodation facility will expand to 350 beds in the coming time.
The new Mauritius hospital will also offer up advance healthcare across 50 specialties and super-specialties, and attract medical tourists across the globe. It will also have a nursing institution.
Currently, the construction of the hospital is under way and it is expected to set in motion by mid January 2009.
