US may create special team of terrorism interrogators
The Obama Administration is considering overhauling the system to cross-examine terrorists by creating a small team of professional interrogators.
The Presidential task force is working on it and is likely to send its findings on the new interrogation team to the White House.
An official informed on the condition of anonymity that terror interrogation unit's main job would be to gather intelligence in lieu of creating criminal cases for prosecution.
However, it is not yet clear which agency would be made in charge of the unit. But CIA and FBI are the fore runners.
The team is likely to reduce CIA's role in interrogations. It is important to note here that recently House Intelligence Committee launched a probe into CIA's working, saying the agency concealed important information from Congress.
The new interrogative unit would include members of spy services as well as law enforcement agencies.
One of the terror interrogation unit's tasks would probably be to create new set of interrogation methods.
The White House didn't comment on the topic.
