Zardari says will fulfil Benazir’s mission
Karachi, Jan 28: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has said that he will lay down his life to fulfil his wife, Benazir Bhutto’s mission.
Appealing to PPP leaders, workers and people of Pakistan to question him should he deviate from Bhutto’s mission, he said: “I shall have no right to be buried at Garhi Khuda Bux if I drift away from her mission.”
The Daily Times further quoted Zardari, as saying that some people would try to rig the forthcoming general elections, which would be equivalent to tearing Pakistan apart. He urged Pakistan to thwart the plans of the ‘Gorbachevs’ of Pakistan.
Claiming that Benazir had defeated all dictatorial powers by sacrificing her life for Pakistan on December 27, 2007, he said: “Today, people think of her as an angel and of her politics as prayers. She raised the stature of politicians and even forced the day’s dictator to declare her a martyr.”
The PPP should be cautious during elections as evil forces were waiting to attack it, he claimed.
Zardari described democracy as an undeniable right of every human being.
“The PPP shall fight to attain that inalienable right that will establish a true democracy in our country and thus the dream of the father of the nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his true political heir, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, will come true,” he concluded. (ANI)
