Gerrard assault charge dropped
London - The assault charge against Steven Gerrard was dropped on Friday.
The Liverpool captain still faces a charge of affray.
The charges relate to an incident in a bar in Southport in which Marcus McGee, a 34-year-old businessman, lost a tooth and suffered a cut face.
Gerrard had been in the bar with friends celebrating his side's 5-1 win over Newcastle on December 28. (dpa)
