Shares gain 3.2 per cent in Seoul
Seoul - Shares surged 3.2 per cent Wednesday on the Seoul stock exchange on heavy foreign buying, tracking gains in the US market. South Korea's won surged against the dollar.
The benchmark Kospi index soared 35.31 points to close at 1,127.51.
Advancing issues outpaced decliners 653 to 174.
The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market rose 7.77 points to 385.69.
On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,471.0 Korean won, after trading at 1,511.50 won Tuesday. (dpa)
