Art with heart

About 75 well-known artists from all across the country like Anjolie Ela Menon, Riyaz Komu, Laxman Srestha, Sunil Padwal, Satish Gujral, Akbar Padamsee, Baiju Parthan among others will showcase one work each of 1x1 foot on the 26/11 tragedy at the Trident Rooftop, where most people lost their lives during the terror attacks. The funds from the exhibition (on March 2-3, at Olive, Mahalaxmi) will go to the victims of the terror attacks.

Artist Riyaz Komu, who has made a portrait for the exhibition, says, "I have made one portrait of sports person Yunus Mohammad. The portrait shows his struggle of living in an occupied land."

Sunil Padwal has created something that he believes is very much his signature style. "My portrait is of a man without eyes and mouth; he has been turning a blind eye to everything that is happening around him. Though, at the same time he's been a silent protester," explains Sunil. "I didn't even have to think twice when I was asked to give one work. It is a noble cause and the recent terror attacks have affected all our lives in some way or the other." One of the other highlights of the exhibition is that fashion designer Krishna Mehta has made two quilts, one of which is made of artist Jitish Kalat's works.
