Bomb kills US soldier in Iraq

Baghdad  - A roadside bomb killed a US soldier in eastern Baghdad on Saturday night, coalition forces confirmed Sunday.

"A Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldier died when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle in eastern Baghdad at approximately 8 pm January 10," the statement said.

The bombing was the second in eastern Baghdad in two days. On Friday, a roadside bomb killed one Iraqi civilian and wounded six others in the eastern Baghdad neighborhood of Kamaliya, Iraqi police said.

Saturday's bombing brought the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq so far this year to three and the total since the beginning of the US led-invasion in 2003 to 4,224. dpa
