Manmohan Singh condoles passing away of Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar
New Delhi, Jan 5 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today condoled the passing away of the former Chief Minister of Tripura and Senior Congress leader Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar.
In his condolence message, Dr. Singh recalled Majumdar''s contribution of the development of the state.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the members of his bereaved family and to all those who followed him and respected him as their friend and leader," Dr. Singh said.
Majumdar was a prominent leader of Tripura. As Chief Minister for four years, from 1988 to 1992, he made a distinctive contribution to the development of the State.
He was the leader of the opposition in the Assembly for two years from 1986 and was also the Pradesh Congress President for two years.
He was a sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly. He set very high standards for political debate in the State and actively worked to promote good governance. (ANI)
