Nissan recalls 46,000 of its hatchback

Nissan recalls 46,000 of its hatchbackNissan has recalled as many as 46,000 of its Cube hatchback cars. And the reason that it has cited is that some technical trouble has appeared in its fuel spilling during rear-end collisions.

The automaker said in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the trouble appeared after NHTSA did some tests to check out the regulators. It was found that more fuel was spilled than it should have as per the federal standards.

The spilling was taking place at the rear end of the cars and was found during the crash tests when the vehicles were spun around.

Nissan has also clarified that such things did not happen earlier. But it is going for voluntary recalling since it does not want to take any kind of risk.

About the recalls, it had notified its dealers earlier and will be contacting the owners from August 30.

However, it stop any kind of untoward incident, the dealers are going to attach a special protector to the tanks.

The recall will be covering the cars within the time period of 2009-10.
