Washington, Sept 10 : Socialite Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have become proud parents of a baby boy.

Richie gave birth to son Sparrow James Midnight Madden in early hours of September 9, reports Contactmusic.

The couple announced the happy news on Richie''s website,

"In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009 Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden... Thank you for all of your good wishes."

Sparrow is the couple’s second child – they welcomed daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden in January 2008. (ANI)
