Nicolas Sarkozy begged ex-wife to return - eight days before marrying Carla Bruni
London, Feb 7: French President Nicolas Sarkozy reportedly begged his ex-wife to come back to him just eight days before he wed Italian supermodel Carla Bruni.
According to British newspaper The Sun, the 52-year old president sent his second wife Cecilia a text message stating that he would call off his nuptials to Bruni if she returned to him.
The text is reported to have stated: “If you come back I’ll cancel everything.”
However, since Cecilia didn’t reply or take up his offer, Sarkozy’s wedding to Bruni went ahead.
The former First Lady of France now plans to marry publicist Richard Attias in New York next month.
Sarkozy and Cecilia divorced four months earlier. He then started a relationship with Bruni. Their romance was outed when they were photographed visiting Disneyland Paris Resort with her son.
The romance was confirmed when Bruni vacationed with Sarmozy in Luxor, Egypt and Petra, Jordan during the Christmas holidays.
The couple wed 2 February 2008 at the Elysee Palace in Paris. (ANI)
