New search starts for adventurer Steve Fossett
Los Angeles - A team of hikers and climbers on Monday started a new search for adventurer Steve Fossett, who disappeared on a solo flight over the Sierra Nevada mountains in September and was declared legally dead in February.
The 10-member team plans to hike through the rugged terrain close to the ranch and private airstrip of hotel magnate Baron Hilton where Fossett took off on September 3,
2007, searching for a location to stage an attempt on the world land speed record.
The team plans to spend a week searching through steep canyons for wreckage of Fossett's plane that may not have been visible to the dozens of aircraft that scoured the area for weeks when Fossett first went missing. (dpa)
