New Facebook feature includes users’ searches in activity feed

New Facebook feature includes users’ searches in activity feedIn a move which marks the substantiation of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's earlier statement that the popular social network intends expanding into the Google-dominated Internet search arena, Facebook is now roiling out a new feature which gives the users a peek at all the searches they have done on Facebook.

With the new feature - dubbed Activity Feed, a new update for the Activity Log - adding all the users' recent searches to the activity feed located on their Timeline, any Facebook search of the users will henceforth be displayed on their feed, though it will not show up publicly.

Drawing attention to the fact that the users' searches will not be visible to their friends, Facebook said in a post related to the new-feature announcement: "It's important to remember that no one else can see your Activity Log, including your search activity."

However, in the wake of the fact that the standard trend on the social network has thus far been towards public posting as the default, Facebook users who are apprehensive, that their searches may be broadly published at some point of time in the future, can easily disable the new feature which will be rolled out to users in the coming weeks.

For disabling the new feature of the Activity Log, users have to merely click on the "x" in the upper-right-hand corner when search activity shows up in their feed, and select "Hide Similar Activity from Timeline."
