Nepal parties differ on finalising Constituent Assembly regulations

NepalKathmandu, Sept 16 : Differences among the parties have created snags in finalising the Constituent Assembly Regulations leading to delay in constitution making process in Nepal.

There has been differences on the number of members in the constitution drafting committee for which the major parties including the Maoists, the Nepali Congress and the UML suggest a 15 member team while fringe parties demand 25 members to ensure representation for all parties in the constituent assembly.

The Constituent Assembly regulations, prepared by a panel headed by chairman of the Nepal Majdoor Kishan Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe, will set procedures for drafting a new constitution.

The constitution drafting process will begin only once the regulation is passed from the House unanimously.

The Regulation has proposed ten other committees to support the constitution drafting committee on specific subjects, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
