Kathmandu, Sept 25 (ANI): The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M), which recently withdrew from the Government, has indicated of a patch up provided there is a new political agreement among the coalition parties.

Nepal Maoist chairman Prachanda has said the Maoists will not return to the government unless there is "new political understanding".

Only a new cabinet formed on the basis of new understanding would bring the Maoists back to the government, Nepalnews quoted Prachanda, as saying, after the unification between the CPN (Maoist) and CPN (MLM) at a function here.

He said that a new political agreement is likely within a few days, adding that bilateral and multilateral discussions were on.

Prachanda’s remarks come amid his party planning to call the special session of the interim parliament to pressurise the seven coalition parties to declare Nepal as a republic immediately.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala had rejected the demand of the Maoists and stated that the future of the monarchy can be decided only by the Constituent Assembly elections.

The Maoists had quit the coalition government last week after the parties failed to meet their 22 demands, which included announcement of republic and fully proportional Constituent Assembly polls slated for November 22. (With inputs from ANI)
