Linz, Austria  - A 46-year-old German climber died after falling in a climbing accident Saturday in Austria.

According to a police spokesman, the female climber, who was from Munich, was a few meters from the summit when she slipped and fell during an attempt of the northface of the Dachstein with a teammate.

The climber landed about 100 meters below the summit, suffering serious injuries. The climber died shortly before the arrival of a rescue helicopter. (dpa)
