Morgan Tsvangirai has left Dutch embassy and is home

Zimbabwe opposition leader Morgan TsvangiraiAmsterdam - Zimbabwe opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai left the Dutch embassy in Harare on Monday and went to his home in the Zimbabwean capital.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed a report about his departure from the Dutch embassy in the Dutch daily Telegraaf on Tuesday.

The embassy will retain close relations with Tsvangirai. According to Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen (Christian Democrats) he will always remain welcome at the premises of the embassy.

Last week the leader of the opposition fled to the Dutch embassy out of fear for his personal safety. (dpa)
