Minister of Health backs Jamaica's health policy
As per a recent announcement made by the Minister of Health Rudyard Spencer, it was evident that he has gone on the defensive which was followed by a survey which said that 88% of the doctors are looking for a change in the health policy of Jamaica.
The minister also said in a statement that more than a quarter of doctors are looking at ending the free health care system that was implemented by the current Jamaica Labour Party administration.
Moreover, the minister also pointed out that we need to focus on issues like expanding public/private partnerships keeping in mind the fact that most of the local people have preferred to access care in the private health sector.
It will not only result in improving its systems to ensure that that resources which are limited in nature are properly secured but will also be accounted for and will strengthen the process throughout the system.
Spencer also backed the abolishment of user fees by saying that the previous system of user fee was a failure as it has already been seen in areas outside Jamaica.
