Microsoft’s first app for iPhone launched

Microsoft’s first app for iPhone launchedWhile ignoring its own Windows Mobile platform, Microsoft has launched its first program for Apple's iPhone.

The maiden iPhone effort on the part of Microsoft is the freebie SeaDragon Mobile that is capable enough to let the users browse photo collections, or pan or zoom around virtual walls of thousands of photos, with just a few taps or pinches on their iPhone's screen.

To be more specific, Microsoft has designed SeaDragon Mobile for viewing the images, rendered using another Microsoft freebie, Photosynth (which weaves individual photos into a 3D panorama) or its deep zoom technology.

Deep zoom for Silverlight was pioneered by the company, which is its recently upgraded competitor to Adobe Flash. This feature let the users pan around and zoom in on photos on a virtual wall of images that runs to gigapixels, only streaming the data for picture detail, user need to see in high resolution at any one moment.

As of now, a Windows Mobile version of Seadragon is not available. If adhered to Microsoft's LiveLabs, division behind creating the product, "iPhone is the largest platform for graphical applications at present."

The users can avail SeaDragon Mobile through the iTunes AppStore.

During the New Year, we might see a second Microsoft product for iPhone, TellMe voice-activated search.
