Microsoft to offer ad-free Bing at schoolsSoftware giant, Microsoft has announced the launch of its new Bing for Schools services allowing add-free access to the search engine for school children.

The company has said that the initiative is "designed to improve digital literacy for students by putting technology in classrooms, helping students learn how to use the power of search, and making sure they can do it in a safer, ad-free environment".

The company said that school implementation includes offering search engine service without ements from search results, automatic strict filtering for blocking adult contents and augmented privacy protections. The service is also linked to Bing Rewards and school districts can earn points in order to win Surface RT tablets for its schools.

The company is also aiming to encourage teachers to use Bing homepage daily images to create lesson plans for school children. The company announced an initial list of school districts participating in the pilot program, including Los Angeles Unified School District, Atlanta Public Schools, Fresno Unified School District, Detroit Country Day School, and others across the country.
