Men's super-g race called off

Kvitfjell, Norway  - A men's super-g World Cup race scheduled for Sunday has been called off due to adverse weather conditions, race organizers said.

A day after Austrian Klaus Kroell won a downhill race in Kvitfjell new snow and high winds made racing impossible on Sunday, the race jury said.

The World Cup is now heading for a dramatic finale in the Swedish town of Are next week, where a super-g, a giant slalom and a slalom race will be held.

Austrian Benjamin Raich and Croatian Ivica Kostelic head the overall standings, with Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal just eight points behind. dpa
