Melodious tribute
Kolkata-based tabla player Pandit Anindo Chatterjee is a well-known artiste in the classical music circuit. He is famous for his mastery over the traditional tabla. Disciple of the great tabla guru and composer Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh, Chatterjee was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. And now the Pandit Anindo Chatterjee Foundation, a Pune-based organisation founded in honour of Anindo Chatterjee has organised a musical concert on February 28. The concert will compromise vocal, instrumental and dance performances by international artistes.
Sammer Suryavanshi, one of the founders and disciple of Pandit Anindo Chatterjee says, “The foundation aims to promote rising artistes. For the last three years we have been organising several musical concerts, which help classical music reach out to people. The concert will begin with a performance by Sameep Kulkarni and Saniya Kulkarni. Kathak dancer and BBC international award winner Anurekha Ghosh will give us a taste of kathak in its purest form.
(Open to all, the festival is on February 28 at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Kothrud at 5 pm to 8 pm)
