Medical-Council-of-IndiaRecently, a trip to Turkey was organized by two pharmaceutical companies in which few doctors were taken to Istanbul, Turkey to attend a seminar. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has begun its search operation for these 200 doctors.

A month back MCI has made a law that doctors will be banned from accepting any gifts, travel facilities and hospitalities from pharmaceutical companies. Despite of this law many doctors have acknowledged this expensive trip.

Dr Ketan Desai, president, MCI said that they had received an information that Piramal Healthcare and Dr Reddy's Laboratories had taken about 200 doctors to Turkey for a conference on diabetes. He also added that they are making attempts to find out the names of the doctors attending this seminar but companies refused to reveal the identities of the concern doctors.

Dr. Dessia told, as of now they were just aware of the fact that many doctors from South had accepted this travel opportunity.

MCI is requesting the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), to pay attention in this matter as drug companies come under their domain of work. MCI also appeals DCGI, to insist companies to reveals the doctors identities present in that trip and also disclose the reason for their visit.
