Mass arrests of Neo-Nazis on Sweden's National DayStockholm  - Swedish police on Friday arrested 114 right-wing extremists for giving the Nazi salute and chanting slogans during the country's National Day festivities, and authorities accused them of inciting hatred.

In the capital, Stockholm, and in Gothenburg there were confrontations between right-wing and left-wing demonstrators. In Stockholm, between 1,000 and 1,500 Neo-Nazis took part in a parade.

Sweden's national holiday honours the election of King Gustav Vasa on June 6, 1523, which marked the beginning of the country as an independent state. It has only been an official public holiday since 2005. (dpa)
