The company brought in its latest technology in the form of the K-series engine powers new models, including A Star, Swift, Swift Dzire and Ritz. The aim was to change its image from a people's carmaker to a more technologically ahead carmaker in the Indian market and if one goes by the numbers, the company has reached half-way on that.

In fact, the company recently touched the milestone of producing over 3-lakh K-series engines in the Indian market. For the uninitiated, the company has achieved this milestone in the record time of 19 months in the country.

Experts are of a view that going forward; the K-series engine will be performing an important role in Maruti Suzuki's strategy in consolidating its leading position in the Indian automobile sector.

Moreover, the technology will be used in various new products that will be launched by the company in a period of the next three to five years in the Indian market.

Notably, out of the total 10 lakh engines that the company produces, it has earmarked around 2.5 lakh units for the K-series engine.
