Maruti Suzuki to prepone expansion plans
Maruti Suzuki, India's top car maker has recently said that the company is speeding up on its target to add 2,50,000 units to its production capacity as it has not been able to meet the consumer demand.
It is to be mentioned here that close to 15-20% of its total monthly sales is the average volumes of the backlogs that the company carries on its books and Shinzo Nakanishi, MD, Maruti Suzuki India recently said that the company is trying to prepone the expansion plans in order to meet the booming demand in the fast-growing south Asian country.
The company which is 54.2 per cent owned by Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp has a production capacity of close to 1 million units and had a plan to expand it to 1.25 million units by early 2012.
However, according to the recent announcement, the company will be looking at reaching the target much earlier.
While Nakanishi did not put a timeline on the same as to by when the company will be able to do so but he surely said that the plans are surely preponed.
