Maruti to prepone expansion by six months

Maruti-SuzukiAs the company is facing a lot of competition in the small car segment in the Indian market, the domestic market leader, Maruti Suzuki has recently said that the company is looking at the option of preponing the expansion plan.

It is to be mentioned here that the company was working on its plan to expand its capacity by 2.5 lakh units by early 2012 but as it has not been able to meet the high consumer demand and competition has benefited from the same, the company is expecting to start the production at the new line by six months.

In other words, it means that the company will make the new assemble line operational by mid 2011.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) chairman RC Bhargava said that the company is trying to start the production on the new assemble line by September this year.

It may be noted here that the company announced an investment of close to Rs. 1,700 crore for the new assembly lines and is now planning to take the construction work on full flow to ensure a healthy long-term picture.
